We’ve all heard the phrase, “When it rains, it pours!” and how well I know how true that statement can be. When my laptop’s hard drive crashed, at first I didn’t think it would be too much of a big deal – after all, how hard is it to get a new one… right? Well, I’m still waiting on the part, driving my hubby buggy while using his computer just so I can stay on top of everything (he’s found I get very cranky if I’m not in the loop). Now, waiting for my computer to be repaired wouldn’t have been an issue except for three little things: 1) our small business records are controlled by my computer and billing was a hassle on a computer I’m not used to. 2) my publisher sent me the final edits for my second book with the deadline of the end of the week. 3) I can’t freaking write on someone else’s computer! Really… I can’t. It’s like a block of some sort. To me it just seems… rude. Or maybe a betrayal to my computer? Either way… I’m going a bit batty waiting for my computer to come home while trying to go over the edits and stay on top of the family business. Toss in a bit of family drama this week, and yep… I was about to go completely over the edge.
I have to admit though, these are the times I can look around and find absurdity in life and I realize that it’s not that bad; just like every other time, I’ll get through this. After all, it’s not like I got caught shoplifting at TJ Maxx with hidden merchandise in my body fat, nor am I a politician making a ‘statement’ by not participating in the local parade because they changed the name. I’m just me… no more, no less and if I can still laugh about how much worse my life could be, then I’m doing all right. I’ll get my computer in another week, I’ll have my changes to my manuscript made and sent back, and the family drama will continue as Christmas gets closer giving me more ideas for new stories. All in all, life is good… just as long as I can continue to remember to put my pants on before heading out the door that is (that’s another story, for another day).
